As technical training kicks off this weekend for the outdoor season, we’re excited to introduce the talented individuals leading our players’ development. Meet the Selects FC technical staff for the upcoming season: Kyle Denam – Program Director Kyle returns for his third season as Program Director of EMSA South and Selects FC. With five years at the club under his belt, Kyle continues to lead with vision and commitment, helping shape the overall direction of our programs. Amanda Gallace – Developmental Technical Director Amanda begins her second season overseeing the U12 and under age groups, bringing eight years of experience at the club. Her focus on foundational development makes her a key asset in nurturing the next generation of players. Nickolas Anderson – Technical Trainer Nickolas enters his sixth season as a trainer and his 14th consecutive year with Selects FC as a player, coach, and now technical trainer. His deep club roots and well-rounded perspective make him a consistent and valued presence on the pitch. Dominik Spadafora – Technical Trainer Dominik is back for his sixth season as a trainer and seventh consecutive year at the club. Known for his energetic sessions and player-first approach, Dominik continues to make a lasting impact on every team he works with. Eleni Stamatakis – Jr. Technical Trainer This marks Eleni’s first season as a trainer with Selects FC. A standout at the university level, she brings fresh energy and high-performance experience to our coaching team as she steps into this new role. Luca Timoteo – Director of Goalkeeper Development Luca and his goalkeeper training team return to deliver elite-level sessions for our shot-stoppers. He’ll be joined by university goalkeepers Oleksandr Popravka (MacEwan Griffins) and Autumn Wynn (UoA Golden Bears), offering our players exceptional guidance between the posts. EMSA South Adaptive Soccer: A Fun & Inclusive Experience for Kids with Disabilities EMSA South is proud to launch its Adaptive Soccer Program, designed for children aged 6–15 with various impairments. No prior soccer experience is needed—just a love for the game and a willingness to learn! Sessions focus on developing technical skills, confidence, coordination, communication, and teamwork, all in a safe and inclusive setting. Each session runs for 50 minutes, with a 1:4 coach-to-player ratio. Players are grouped by skill, not age, to ensure everyone progresses at their own pace. Activities include free play, fun warm-ups, individual skill drills, team-building games, and a structured cool-down. Coaches and volunteers from the Autism Centre bring experience and compassion, creating a positive environment where every player can thrive. 📍 Where: Sports TC, 9203 35 Ave NW 📅 When: Sundays – May 25 to June 22 | ⏰ 1:00 PM – 1:50 PM 💲 Cost: $150 (includes jersey & EMSA fees) ✅ Parents must be present and provide info on participant needs during registration. GOING FOR GOLD: Our U15G(Pettigrew) came out on top in their round robin group after a win against BTB and a draw against New Frontier SC of Calgary. The girls now stand one game away from becoming provincial champions! The match takes place tomorrow @ 1:15PM at the Red Deer Soccer Dome, lets go girls!

🎙: Some pre-tournament comments from 2010 girls head coach, Mike Pettigrew, when asked how his team has grown since their last Provincials Competition at the T1 level. Full interview below: Q1: Your team has had some amazing successes lately, especially that provincial championship win in the 2023-2024 indoor season at the T2 level! How would you say the competition changes when you move from Tier 2 to Tier 1? And what's the one thing your team focuses on to keep coming out on top in these big tournaments? COACH MIKE: Big differences between Tier 1 and Tier 2 is speed of play and intensity. My players have the skills, but had to adapt to use those skills at a higher pace. They have always made good plays, but needed to learn that the time to make these plays is much shorter. Q2: It's been a couple seasons since your team played in provincials at the Tier 1 level – the last time was back in the 2022-2023 indoor season. Looking back, how do you feel your team has grown since then? What changes or improvements have really stood out to you? COACH MIKE: The players have matured which has translated to a higher field IQ. There have been some changes to the roster and they have all turned out well. The team is quite deep now and I think that helps push them individually to achieve more. They have all bought into the fact that in order to reach the next level there is expectations to work on their own as well. Whether that is ball skills or conditioning. Any player I have coached can tell you that I push conditioning very hard.

Provincials weekend is here! Our 2010 T1 girls have made the trip to Red Deer for an exciting tournament ahead. First up, they’ll take on local rivals BTB and New Frontier SC from Calgary in their round robin games. The results of these matches, along with others, will determine what’s at stake for our girls on Sunday. LET'S GO, SELECTS FOOTBALL CLUB! 🔵⚪

Despite playing an age group up our 2010 girls would go undefeated to claim gold at the Slush Cup. This is the third piece of silverware the girls have collected this season, now they look forward to provincials in Red Deer!

Over the weekend our U11G(Reid) claimed gold after a hard fought tournament. This is the girls second gold medal this season! Congratulations girls!

U10G(Lysak) in their first ever season have claimed silver in their division! Outstanding work girls!

U15G(PETTIGREW) IS PROVINCIALS BOUND! The girls punched their ticket by finishing 2nd overall in their division, and will compete in U15G T1 Provincials in just a few weeks time. Amazing work girls!

EMMA PAUL, JANUARY PLAYER OF THE MONTH -- Emma was praised by her coaches for her quick recognition and ability to adapt quickly to any situation that is thrown her way. Her role in organizing her team defensively was also praised. Congratulations Emma!

KAI MCKENZIE, JANUARY PLAYER OF THE MONTH -- In his first ever season of club football Kai has snagged his first POTM award. He was praised by his coaches for his rapid progress, strong work ethic, and coachability. It has been a season of improvements for the young defender, and this award is well deserved! USA CUP: Here is a look at the U15 Girls schedule in the USA CUP GOLD DIVISION( @usacupsoccer ). The girls will be taking on some of the top teams in the country, and will look to show them how its done here in Canada. Good luck girls!

JUNE FEMALE PLAYER OF THE MONTH - LEAH PITTS Leah has stood out for her ability to find the back of the net this month. Her coaches praised her clinical scoring ability when it mattered most recalling Leah scoring 5 goals in the span of just one match. JUNE MALE PLAYER OF THE MONTH - TYSON HODDER Tyson was praised by his coaches for his leadership, commitment, and passion at training and matches. Tyson has been serving as the primary captain of his side since the start of the outdoor season. STARTING LINEUP: As the teams finish up their warmups and prepare for kickoff here is the starting lineup for our U12 Boys -- Louis Martin-Leblanc will get the start in goal, he has two clean sheets so far this season and is looking for a third; Garron Martens, Leutrim Miftari, and Kristian Jory form a back three, they will be looking to keep shots to a minimum; Ali Youness will get the start as a holding mid; Easton Berger and Jujhar Singh Grewal will start as wide midfielders; Kasey Chiasson will lineup in the CAM position; Last but not least Walker Beierbach will start up top. Tyson Hodder, Felix Marier, Reeve Martens, Maxson Kaplan, Gurjaap Khosa, and May POTM nominee Aliyan Mominzada will start on the bench and look to make an impact as they are subbed on throughout the match. Head Coach, Dominik Spadafora, and Assistant Coaches, Nickolas Anderson, Mathieu Martin-Leblanc, and Nathan Shaw will be on the touchline. Kickoff is next!
